Abstract

Algebraic combinatorialists are interested in those symmetric functions which can be written as nonnegative linear combinations of Schur functions. Lam, Postnikov and Pylyavskyy established a Schur positivity theorem on the differences of certain products of Schur functions, which was motivated by a conjecture of Okounkov. In this talk we will present several applications of this theorem to proving log-concavity of combinatorial sequences.

报告人简介: 杨立波,南开大学教授,博士生导师。1999年于郑州大学获学士学位,2004年于南开大学获博士学位。杨立波教授主要从事组合数学方面的研究,特别是在对称函数理论、单峰型理论、拟阵Kazhdan-Lusztig多项式理论等方面取得多项成果、现已在TAMS, IMRN, JCTA等期刊接受发表40余篇论文。
