Birkhoff's theorem on the Hamiltonian system is a fundamental result in mathematics. In this talk I shall explain its relevance in the study of complex geometry. I shall explain how results obtained by the speaker in this direction can be viewed as the infinite dimensional application of Birkhoff's theorem.
